  1. What to pack for a month in New York, San Diego, Las Vegas and Hawaii

Christmas in New York, a week in San Diego broken up with a few days in Vegas, Maui for 10 days with a quick two day visit in O’ahu on our way home. The idea of an overseas trip might seem idyllic yet packing for contrasting climates doesn’t exactly scream easy packing list. So what do you take for a month keeping in mind your domestic flights through the US allow 23kgs. Hang on, but your international flight allows 30kg….how is this going to work?! ARGHHHHH!

Flying home from our recent month away got me thinking about how little I knew of what to pack. As a stylist you’re probably thinking ‘I bet you had a fabulous assortment of suitcases each containing multiple outfit options that were only worn once’ – ahhhh NO! Clients assume I have this Sex & the City wardrobe with endless outfit choices but the truth is I don’t. I have functional wardrobe that transitions between seasons nicely. Don’t get me wrong I love shoes which is why I took nine pairs on our trip, which in turn gave me even less weight for clothing. So what do you pack for a month in the US when travelling between seasons? You might want to write this down.

As you descend over crystal blue waters and white sandy beaches you suddenly notice the very short runway and possibly smallest airport you’ve ever seen. Welcome to glorious Hamilton Island.

Our recent short stay was a balance between lazy poolside piña coladas and hiking up the sensational (must steeper then I expected) Passage Peak. With so much extraordinary natural beauty this short but sweet getaway made me stop and just breathe, creating a feeling of pure contentment. With our personal island guide (my sister who works and lives on the island) we got to experience, eat and drink our way around like a local which included some of the top attractions but also some sneaky local favourites.
